The Centre for Processional Culture UK (CPCUK) is a new membership body brought together to represent the interests and challenges of those making processions happen across the country.
Our aim is to become a go-to support body who can help find information and contacts to support processional events, bring together networks of those delivering processions and to advocate for this important collective, popular activity.

What is processional culture?
Processional Culture includes any scenario in which people move together in a line or formation, this includes family arts parades, carnivals, Whit Walks, Brass Band and field days, homecoming parades, tractor runs and funeral processions. It includes events such as the huge Durham Miner’s Gala, and historic Leicester Carnival amongst an almost unlimited number of other events and activities.
Our purpose is to bring together these activities to reveal the critical mass of people involved, and then to advocate for the challenges many of these events share e.g. traffic management costs, risk assessment and volunteer recruitment and alongside this celebrate this ancient and contemporary human practice.
